Good morning, my dear teachers and students. Thank you for giving me the chance to be here today. First I will introduce myself. My name is <\/span>\u00d7\u00d7\u00d7<\/span>. I was born in a small but ancient town with its history of more than 1,200 years,<\/span>\u2026\u2026<\/span>. <\/span>\u2026\u2026<\/span>. This is my hometown and I am pride of it. I am now a student majoring in <\/span>\u2026\u2026<\/span>, Department of <\/span>\u2026\u2026<\/span>. It is the third major I have studied. In the future, I want to try my best to <\/span>\u2026\u2026<\/span>. In my spare time, I usually do some physical exercises like running and write some blogs on the internet. Next, I will give a PPT presentation. Today the topic of my oral exam is Watching TV: For or Against.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Watching TV: For or Against<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Television is now playing a very important part in our daily life since its invention, ever with the increasing popularization of Internet in our modern society. Of course, television, like other things, has both advantages and disadvantages.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reasons\u00a0for\u00a0watching\u00a0television:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the first place, television is not only a convenient source of entertainment, but also a comparatively useful tool, especially for children. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>According to a scholar from Tianjin Research Institute of Social Science, children enjoy watching TV, for TV\u2019s programs are vivid and interesting. Just like the following two pictures showed to us. The survey also released most parents think watching TV is the most convenient way of relaxing oneself. Sometimes television becomes more important than parents to children\u2019s daily life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Children like to watch TV, especially the cartoon programs<\/span><\/p>\n

Television, it is often said, keeps one informed about current events, allows one to follow the latest developments in science and politics, and offers an endless series of programs which are both instructive and entertaining even for the adults.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Television can make our life more interesting and make us get to know more about other countries<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Television can make us enjoy beautiful scenery around the world<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Television<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Television also has an educational value, provided with entertainment and relaxation by interesting programs<\/span><\/p>\n

We can learn skills and foreign languages; learn how to cook, learn farming methods and learn school subjects from television. Some people even believe that our society cannot advance without television.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reasons\u00a0against\u00a0watching\u00a0television:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As every coin has two sides, television also causes some problems. The first one is a health problem. We often call those who watch TV too much “couch potatoes” because they watch TV for too long and always eat while watching, which makes them put on weight easily. <\/span><\/p>\n

“Couch potatoes” child who should have not allowed eating while watching TV<\/span><\/p>\n

Their lack of exercises may also cause other physical and metal diseases. <\/span><\/p>\n

Watching TV for too much time can damage eyesight<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Watching<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Watching TV for too much time might damage one\u2019s memory ability<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What’s more, some television programs have a bad influence on teenagers. Not all programs on TV are good or suitable for children. Some of them make matters worse, because children may imitate what they have seen on TV. That’s one of the reasons why there are so many school shootings or cases of robbery in the USA.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Unhealthy<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unhealthy programs such as violence, sex or murder are harmful to children<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Misleading<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Misleading TV commercials and even some fake products ads make matters worse<\/span><\/p>\n
