This new study shows that mobiles can be used to track patterns of human movement and aid in urban planning, disaster management and disease monitoring. <\/span>\u6211\u4eec\u90fd\u77e5\u9053\u624b\u673a\u5728\u5546\u4e1a\u548c\u793e\u4ea4\u4e0a\u7684\u4f5c\u7528\u5f88\u5927\uff0c\u4f46\u662f\u79d1\u5b66\u5bb6\u8fd8\u4f7f\u7528\u5b83\u6765\u8fdb\u884c\u7814\u7a76\uff0c\u8ffd\u8e2a\u4eba\u7c7b\u7684\u79fb\u52a8\u6a21\u5f0f\u3002<\/span><\/span><\/font> <\/p>\n

In a paper titled \u201cUnderstanding Individual Human Mobility Patterns\u201d in Thursday\u2019s issue of the journal Nature, researchers from the <\/span>US<\/span> report that they monitored movements of 100,000 people following their cellphone signals and found, predictably, that \u201cmost people are creatures of habit\u201d, inclined to move around the same few locations, occasionally given to long hops. And the active region of most people is less than 10 km inside. <\/span>\u5927\u90e8\u5206\u4eba\u7684\u6d3b\u52a8\u8303\u56f4\u5c11\u4e8e<\/span>10<\/span>\u516c\u91cc\u4e4b\u5185\u3002<\/span><\/span><\/font> <\/p>\n

And another interesting finding is that activities of most people are regulated by one mathematical relation called power law. <\/span>\u8fd8\u6709\u4e00\u4e2a\u6709\u8da3\u7684\u53d1\u73b0\u662f\u5927\u90e8\u5206\u4eba\u7684\u6d3b\u52a8\u90fd\u662f\u51c6\u786e\u5730\u6839\u636e\u4e00\u4e2a\u79f0\u4e3a\u5e42\u6b21\u6cd5\u5219\uff08<\/span>power law<\/span>\uff09\u7684\u6570\u5b66\u5173\u7cfb\u6765\u8fdb\u884c\u7684\u3002<\/span><\/span><\/font> <\/p>\n

I think this is an interesting study. But I felt that the result is normal and obvious. Before the industrial age, we were an agricultural society, all countries were like this. People had to grow food to keep them alive and therefore they tended to be born, live and die in the same area. It just wasn’t easy or safe to travel very far. Although it is easier to travel since modern transportation evolved, most people have no desire to travel the world and tend to stay in their comfort zone.<\/span><\/font> <\/p>\n
